Awards And Accreditations
Since our inception in 2004 we as a business have won a number of awards and accolades presented to us for Patient Service, Service to the Community or for achievements in, or contributions to, the field of Dentistry. While all great achievements in themselves, and reassuring to potential patients, few compare to the real testimonials of our actual patients. We detail our awards below:
UK Government Recognition
2016 saw our practices (Narberth and Herbrandston) as being selected from all over the UK to be the first welsh private dental practice to contribute to the Parliamentary Review on Private Health Care. We have since been featured again in 2018, the first practice to ever be featured twice.
This glossy publication is distributed to all medical, dental, hospital and legislatory facilities within the UK and aims to showcase the best examples of practice within the industry.
It is endorsed by members of parliament and focuses on how businesses within the sectors contribute to the economy as leaders in the field.
It gives us a great deal of pride that we were selected by reason of excellence to so contribute.

'What Clinic?' Customer Service Awards
It is not just our patients who recommend us. Whatclinic.com has since 2013 awarded us with a Patient Services award with us again winning in 2019 for being within the top 2% of clinics reviewed. We feel this shows our commitment to the patient journey and is an award to which we intend to remain worthy of.
Chamber of Commerce Welsh Business Awards
In March 2016, Dr Mark Boulcott, our Principal Dental Surgeon and Business Director won the prestigious Welsh National Business Award.
Several National and Regional Newspapers recorded the event:
Pembrokeshire Dentist Scoops Top Welsh Business Award.
Top dentist, Dr Mark Boulcott, who is the Director and Principal Dentist at the Dental Health Practices at both Narberth and Herbrandston (outside Milford Haven) was last week honoured in the 2015 Welsh National Business Awards.
The prestigious event held in the National Museum in Cardiff, and hosted by the South Wales Chamber of Commerce, was the culminating event for nominations throughout Wales in 2015 and resulted in Dr Boulcott winning the ‘President’s Award’. The Award sponsored by the University of South Wales was in recognition for “Outstanding achievement of a member of the Welsh Business Community over the past 20 years”.
On asking the question “what qualities allow a dentist to become an outright winner in such a prestigious and National Business Event?” Dr Boulcott told us “all dentists, be they good or bad in their dental professional expertise are above all business people. Very few dentists, private or NHS, are employed and being generally self employed, running their businesses for the benefit of their patients, still have to employ staff, control overheads and of course make a profit. What makes me stand out as a business man, I think, is that instead of just thinking myself as a dental surgeon, I run my businesses on the basis that customer service is just as important as quality of care”.
Dr Boulcott explained, “as dentists we have to be good at what we do to attract patients – our customers. At both Narberth and Herbrandston we do not allow people to live with pain while an appointment is found, do not leave them languishing for months on a waiting list in some distant hospital or tell anxious patients, who have a genuine fear of visiting the dentist, to ‘grow up and open their mouth’. Instead we employ dentists with a wide range of high-level skills so we can manage problems in-house without referral. We treat all patients courteously - we listen and we act to help them.”
“Where anxieties are an issue we take time in helping them overcome their fears and do all we can not to make a bad situation worse. We use animals to help overcome deep-rooted phobias, use innovative and high tech treatments that allow painless treatments and we spend time in explanation and discussion. We even give out teas and coffees and have very pleasant interactions with all our patients who we see as friends more than customers.”
“All this leads to a unique experience which our patients enjoy and we take pride in the fact that our main recruiters for new patients are, in fact, our existing patients.”
Dr Boulcott opened his first dental practice in 2004 after leaving his position as a senior Army Dentist at Brawdy near Newgale, Pembrokeshire. In 2006 he was involved in a road traffic accident involving a drunk driver where he was left disabled and his wife and business partner, Karen Boulcott, was killed.
In spite of this life changing tragedy, the Award Judges reflected that instead of shying away from business, Dr Boulcott instead immersed himself deeper for the benefit of his remaining son, Liam, to safeguard the jobs of his staff and of course to allow continued care to his expanding patient base. Today Dr Boulcott manages 5 full time dentists with a range of special dental interests, a full supporting staff (including dental nurses, reception, maintenance and administrative staff) and a burgeoning (not for eating) animal population including pigs, turkeys, chickens, ferrets, horses and even geese. He is an author for various professional publications and has been recently asked by the UK Government to be the first Welsh Dentist to contribute to the Parliamentary Review on Private Health Care.
Dr Boulcott, who was nominated for the Award by his son Liam Boulcott, was sadly too ill to accept the Award personally on the night – the Award instead being accepted on his behalf by both Liam and his Senior Dental Nurse, Petra Culleton. “I was sad not to be able to go personally”, he stated, “but I am so very grateful and indeed humbled by being so honoured. I thank everyone involved.”
Radio Pembrokeshire Business Awards
In the summer of 2015 we were nominated to receive the Hair Health and Beauty award as well as the Business Person of The Year in the Radio Pembrokeshire Business Awards. Thanks to the vote of our patients we were one of the three finalists in each category, only just missing out on the award itself.
However, we still think that is shows just how highly our patients think of us and our services. To have achieved a finalist place out of the large number of businesses that were nominated is truly an achievement.
Professional Testimonials
We have been featured in a number of profession journals for our unique and caring approach to dentistry. Most recently we have been featured in the British Dental journal for our use of animals within the practice, especially for those more anxious patients.
Patient Testimonials
Of course our highest awards are from our patient, in what the say about us. Below is what some of out patient have had to say about the experience with us!
